In fact, it's been since August 11, 2011. Almost six months later, and I am still living with diabetes. Some things have changed though. Mainly the fact that I now have an insulin pump, and instead of giving myself insulin injections multiple times a day, I change my infusion site and set every three days.
So, what else has happened over the past six months?
Christopher's brother Dylan graduated from Marine Corps boot camp and we got to go to South Carolina to see his ceremony and some of the family, which was awesome! We are super proud of him. Chris and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary, which was awesome. Oh, and the foster cats? They're still around. We love them just like our other fur babies and I don't see them leaving us. We spent Christmas in Pennsylvania and it was cold! Well cold for someone who has lived in Florida her whole life. It snowed a tiny bit. I had a blast spending time with everyone and meeting a lot of people. Our friends Megan and Benjamin welcomed a beautiful baby boy in early December, too! Christopher made second class petty officer, which is wonderful and he reenlisted for six more years. Go Navy!
We are searching for a house to purchase later this year, which is terrifying and very exciting, at the same time.
I have my first endocrinology appointment since I've been on the pump on Monday. I don't think I've ever been excited to go to one of my diabetes check ups. EVER. This time I am. My doctor and the staff at his office are wonderful and I actually enjoy going.
I think I will start updating more often. I am trying to cook more, so I will add recipes and things throughout the posts. Maybe some other things to make this exciting.
Until next time..
